Brief Profile

The Quileute (also known as the Quillayute) are a Native American people located in La Push, Washington, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. The Quileute Tribe have lived in this area for thousands of years and used to be whalers. The Quileute http://www.quileutenation.org have built a tourism industry for those interested in whale watching in the spring; surfing, fishing, and hiking in the summer; and storm watching in the fall and winter.

The Quileute tribe is run by their own government inside the United States, which consists of a tribal council with staggered 3 year terms.

Quileute folklore, which is very much alive, holds that they descended from wolves. This has been the basis for several popular series of novels and a series of movies based on the premise that the Quileute are actually werewolves.

Their primary language is English, and there are only a small handful of native speakers left.
