Brief Profile

The Slovene diaspora people migrated from Slovenia, who speak Slovene, a South Slavic language.

The largest significant diaspora population of Slovene minorities reside in Italy. They are also found in southern, in Croatia, and in Hungary. Other noteworthy Slovene populations reside in the United States and Canada, and in several other European countries, along with being found in Argentina and Australia. The largest population in an urban area of Slovenes outside of Slovenia reside in Cleveland, Ohio (United States).

Slovenia has a polycentric culture. This means people will go out of their way to change their natural behaviour to mirror that of the person with whom they are interacting. So for example, Slovenians are naturally indirect communicators but can moderate their behaviour when dealing with people who come from cultures where more direct communication is the norm

Slovenes are predominantly Roman Catholic with some Protestant minorities in their homeland.
