Brief Profile

Antiguan people migrated from Antigua and Barbuda to North America. Their primary language is Antigua and Barbuda Creole English, the more prominent language spoken in Antigua and Barbuda.

They are part of the Afro-American, Northern people cluster within the North American Peoples affinity bloc. Globally, they are dispersed with over 100,000 Antiguans residing in at least 4 different countries. The culture is predominantly a mixture of West African and British cultural influences mking it a classic example of a creole culture. It emerged from the mixing of Amerindian (Carib and Arawak), West African, and European (primarily British) cultural traditions. Family and religion play an important roles in the lives of Antiguans.

A majority of Antiguans are Christians, with the Anglican Church being the largest denomination. Catholicism is the other significant denomination, with the remainder being other Protestants: including Methodists, Moravians, and Pentecostals.
