Profile

The Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura metro area's immigrant population has historically been made up primarily of Hispanic residents. This trend still holds true today. The Latino ethnic group has the largest foreign-born population, and more people groups represented than any other ethnic group. The Latino population is also the fastest growing population in the area, and it is estimated that by 2050, the Latino population could represent the largest ethnic group in the area, even greater than the Caucasian population.

The area also has a growing Asian population as well, and the Asian population is the second fastest growing population behind the Latinos. Although immigrants are coming from all over Asia, there has been a significant increase in the southeastern Asian population since the year 2000. Tagalog, a language primarily spoken in the Philippines, is the third most commonly spoken language in the metro area. The Asian population is projected to continue to see significant increases on into the future as the overall population of the greater Oxnard area becomes more and more diverse by the day.
