The largest ethnic group in the greater San Jose area come from Asia. The city has the largest concentration of Asians out of any city in the United States. Due to the continual growth of Silicon Valley, the Asian population has skyrocketed since the late 20th century. With large amounts of East Asian, Southeast Asian, and Asian Indian immigrants moving to San Jose everyday, it is no wonder that the city has the highest concentration of Asian-born people in the country.

San Jose is currently the most diverse city in the entire country. Over 40% of the population speaks a language other than English at home. If the immigration trends continue on into the future, within the next twenty years the foreign-born population could outstrip the native population.
