The anchoring city Honolulu, locally referred to as just Town, is the state capital well as the largest city in the state of Hawaii. Oahu island is one of the largest tourist destinations in the world.

Profile

The Island of Oahu has the densest population in the United States, and the majority of that population are of Asian descent. Over eighty percent of the foreign-born population are from Asian countries. The Japanese and the Filipinos are the largest people groups in the area, combining to make up approximately thirty percent of the total population, and the immigrants from those two countries make up around half of the foreign-born population.

There is also a significant Chinese presence on the Island with a thriving Chinatown located on the southeastern part of the island, which is one of the oldest Chinatowns in the country. Honolulu is one of the only cities in America where the white population is in the Minority, and this trend will most likely continue into the future as the immigrant population grows at a greater rate than the white population.
